FRITZ!Powerline 546E – Service - Knowledge Base
Integrating powerline adapter from another manufacturer into a FRITZ!Powerline network
Since FRITZ!Powerline adapters are compatible with the IEEE P1901 standard, you can connect them with all current powerline adapters of the 500 and 200 Mbit/s class.
In order to integrate a powerline adapter from a different manufacturer into your FRITZ!Powerline network, you only have to assign it the network password ("pair") used to encrypt the powerline connection.
1 Connecting powerline adapters
- For the setup procedure, plug the powerline adapter into an outlet near a FRITZ!Powerline adapter.
For trouble-free operation, you should always plug your powerline adapters directly into wall outlets and not into power strips. If you need to use a power strip, plug it into the powerline adapter's socket.
- Push the "Encrypt" or "Pairing" button on the powerline adapter from the other manufacturer. Refer to the adapter's manufacturer for detailed instructions on the procedure.
- Push the "Powerline · Security" or "Security" button on the FRITZ!Powerline adapter within two minutes.
- The process is completed as soon as the "Powerline" LED on the powerline adapter remains lit. Now you can plug it into a different outlet at the desired location.
