Loading the FRITZ!Powerline factory settings

When you load the factory settings, all of the individual settings you made in FRITZ!Powerline are deleted. It makes sense to load the factory settings if you are going to use FRITZ!Powerline at a different location or are planning to pass it on to another user, for example. In addition, this deletes incorrect settings that prevent FRITZ!Powerline from functioning properly.
Either a button on the device itself, the FRITZ!Box user interface, or the FRITZ!Powerline software can be used to load the factory settings.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for FRITZ!Powerline.

1 Using a button to load the factory settings

  1. Plug the FRITZ!Powerline adapter into an electrical outlet.
  2. Push the corresponding button:
    • If you have a FRITZ!Powerline adapter with three buttons on the front of the device:
      • FRITZ!Powerline 546E and 540E:
        • Push the "WLAN/WPS" and "Powerline/Security" buttons simultaneously for at least 15 seconds.
      • FRITZ!Powerline 1000E/1220E:
        • Push the "Powerline-Security" button for 10 seconds.
      • FRITZ!Powerline 1240E:
        • Push the "WLAN/WPS" / "Powerline-Security" button for at least 15 seconds.
    • If you have a FRITZ!Powerline adapter with two buttons on the base of the device:
      • Push the "Reset" button with a pointy object such as a paperclip for 2 seconds.

Now all of the LEDs go out for a brief moment and the FRITZ!Powerline adapter restarts. The process is completed as soon as the "Power" or "Powerline(/Security)" LED remains lit again.

2 Using the FRITZ!Box user interface to load the factory settings

  3. Click on the link or the name of the powerline adapter whose settings you wish to load.
    • The user interface of the powerline adapter opens.
  4. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  5. Click "Backup" in the "System" menu.
