Configuring different DNS servers in the FRITZ!Box

DNS servers in the Internet convert the alphanumeric names of Internet servers to numeric IP addresses (for example avm.de in 212.42.244.80). For the name resolution of web addresses, the FRITZ!Box uses the DNS servers assigned to it by your Internet provider when it connects to the Internet.

If you would like to use different DNS servers in your home network, you can configure them in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

Note:The FRITZ!Box always uses the DNS servers assigned by your Internet service provider for certain functions (such as Internet telephony, push service mails), regardless of the DNS server you enter.

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface. The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS
