No status information available for a USB printer configured as a network printer
The status information (for example on ink or paper levels) for a USB printer that is connected to the FRITZ!Box and configured as a network printer cannot be retrieved by the computers in the home network.
1 Status information not available for network printers
In order for status information to be transmitted, bidirectional communication between the USB printer and the computer must be possible. Since the FRITZ!Box's printer server does not support bidirectional connections, the status information for a USB printer is not available when it is used as a network printer. This is not an error on the part of the FRITZ!Box.
Note:Status information can be displayed if you use the FRITZ!Box USB Remote Connection software to connect the USB printer to a computer. Note that in this case it is not possible for several computers to access the printer at the same time.
