FRITZ!Box 7360 – Service

Answering machine reacts to calls although it is disabled

Incoming calls are answered by an answering machine although you did not configure an answering machine in the FRITZ!Box or all answering machines are disabled. Callers may be asked to enter a PIN.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Disabling remote playback

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
    • If an answering machine is configured:
      1. Click the "Settings" button.
      2. Click "Additional Settings".
      3. Enable remote playback and enter "0000" as the PIN.
      4. Click "OK" to save the settings.
      5. Repeat steps a - d for all of the answering machines that are configured.
    • If no answering machines are configured:
      1. Click on the link "Configuring the answering machine".
      2. Use the Wizard to set up an answering machine.

        Note:It does not matter which operating mode, greeting delay, recording length and numbers you define since this answering machine will be deactivated again.

      3. Click the "Settings" button.
      4. Click "Additional Settings".
      5. Enable remote playback and enter "0000" as the PIN.
      6. Click "OK" to save the settings.
      7. Use the on/off switch to disable the answering machine.

If an answering machine continues to answer incoming calls, then the calls are not being answered by the integrated answering machine in the FRITZ!Box. Instead, they are answered by a different answering machine. This could be an answering machine connected directly to the FRITZ!Box (for example a telephone with an answering machine) or your telephony provider's mailbox. A solution is only possible on the part of the telephony provider or the other device.
