FRITZ!Box 7340 – Service

Configuring the push service

You can have the push service send you emails with the connection and usage data of the FRITZ!Box at regular intervals or when certain events occur. Then the FRITZ!Box notifies you when a new FRITZ!OS is available, when you have new messages on your answering machine, or if you missed a call, for example. You can also have a backup file with your settings sent to you automatically before every FRITZ!OS update.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • You must use an email account with a POP3 email server.
  • POP3 download must be enabled with your email provider.

    Note:You can enable download in your email account settings. Refer to your email provider for information on how to set it up.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Entering email account information

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Sender" tab.
  4. Enter your email address and password.
  5. Click "Account Information - Additional Settings".

    Note:In most cases, the FRITZ!Box automatically fills in the following information. With smaller local providers, you have to enter it yourself. Refer to your email provider for the required information.

  6. Enter your user name and the name of your email provider's SMTP server.
  7. If the server cannot be reached over port 25, enter the port used by the server to communicate, for example 587 (see fig.).
  8. If the server supports SSL, enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)".

  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  10. Click "Test Settings" to test whether you entered the account information correctly.

    Important:Save the settings first and then click "Testing Push Service" or "Test Settings". Otherwise, the data will not be adopted correctly.

2 Enabling the push service

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click the button (Edit) next to the push services you would like to use.
  4. Enable the option "Push service enabled" and configure the individual push services.
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.
