FRITZ!Box 7340 – Service

Configuring push services

You can use the push service to have emails containing the connection and usage data of the FRITZ!Box sent to you on a regular basis or when certain events occur. Then the FRITZ!Box notifies you, for example, when a new FRITZ!OS is available, when there are new messages on your answering machine, or if you missed a call. In addition, you can have a backup file with your settings sent to you automatically before every FRITZ!OS update.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • You must use an email account with a POP3 email server.
  • POP3 download must be enabled with your email provider.

    Note:You can enable download in your email account settings. Your email provider can provide you with information on the procedure.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Entering email account information

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Sender" tab.
  4. Click "Account Information - Additional Settings".
  5. Enter the user name for the email account in the "Email user name" field.
  6. Enter the password for your email account in the "Password" field.

    Important:The password for your email account is not the same as the password required to access your personal customer account data.

  7. Enter the SMTP server in the "SMTP server" field. If the SMTP port is not accessible over port 25, then you must also enter the port used by the server to communicate (for example 587, see fig.). Your email provider can tell you what to enter for the SMTP server.
  8. Enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)" if the server supports it.

  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  10. Click "Test Settings" in order to test whether you entered the account information correctly.

    Important:First click "Apply" to save the settings, and then click "Test Settings" or "Testing Push Service" afterwards, as the information you entered will otherwise not be applied correctly.

    • A test email is sent to the email address you entered.

2 Enabling push services

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click the button (Edit) for each of the push services that you would like to use.
  4. Enable the option "Push service enabled" and configure each individual push service (for example the email address the push service mail should be sent to).
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.
