FRITZ!Box 7330 – Service

DECT range is too low

The range of the DECT connection between a cordless telephone and the FRITZ!Box is too low. When you conduct calls over DECT, the connection drops, you experience interruptions, or you hear an annoying crackling, even when you are just a short distance from the FRITZ!Box.

  • Surrounding structural conditions (such as thickness and reinforcement of the walls) as well as other electronic devices such as microwaves and baby monitors influence the quality and thus the range of the DECT connection.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box

2 Installing the latest software for your telephone

The following steps are only necessary if you are using a FRITZ!Fon:

3 Recharging the telephone battery

  • Fully charge the telephone battery. Leave the telephone in the charging cradle for at least 12 hours.

4 Turning off other base stations

  • For testing purposes, turn off other base stations in the vicinity of the FRITZ!Box.

If the problem no longer occurs, then the other base station was affecting the DECT range of the FRITZ!Box. Either leave the other base station turned off or place it farther away from the FRITZ!Box.

5 Configuring the FRITZ!Box

Disabling "Reduce DECT field strength"

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Disable the option "Reduce DECT field strength" in the "Radio field strength" section.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Disabling "DECT Eco"

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Disable the option "DECT Eco" in the "Radio Field Strength" section.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Box is ideally configured and you will achieve the best possible DECT range between your cordless telephones and the FRITZ!Box.

Note:You can use a DECT repeater to increase the DECT range of the FRITZ!Box and establish DECT connections even over greater distances or in unfavorable environments. For example, you can use a FRITZ!DECT Repeater 100 as a DECT repeater.
